About ChairWhiz

ChairWhiz is an independent tool for choosing an office chair. Instead of one "best chair" list for everyone, it compares the measurements that decide whether a chair actually fits you.

How chairs are matched

Every chair in the finder is scored the same way:

• Seat height range, compared with the height your feet-flat posture needs (about 25.5% of your height plus 1 inch for shoes).
• Seat depth, compared with your thigh length (about 28.5% of your height minus 2.5 inches).
• Weight rating, which rules a chair out if it isn't rated for you.
• Lumbar support, upholstery, arms, recline and warranty, weighed against how you sit, what bothers you and whether a pet shares your chair.

Where the data comes from

Specs come from manufacturers and retailer listings. Where a listing leaves out a number, such as a seat height range, the finder says so instead of guessing. Prices and stock change often, so the retailer's listing is always the final word. If you spot a mistake, email us and we'll fix it.
